Youth Concerts
Dakota Sky offers a series of educational concerts with emphasis on introducing and teaching basic and integral concepts in music. Visual cues, physical activity and question/answer sessions, along with a chance to meet and speak with the guest artists provide a hands-on, rich, and fun learning environment. All youth concerts are free and open to the public.
Movin’ and Groovin’ (PreK- 3rd)
Move your body to the beats in this exciting concert. Learn about the music of dances from around the world. From the traditional tango and waltz to the boot scootin’ fun of a hoedown, you won’t be able to resist the urge to dance. Put on your dancing shoes and join us for a groovin’ good time.

This is your chance to travel the world without leaving the concert hall! Let the music carry you to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. You will hear how composers use music to embody their country, people, and traditions. It only takes 10 Fingers, 88 keys, and 1 concert for you to be a world traveler.

King of the Instruments (4th-6th)
The piano holds the grand title of “King of the Instruments.” Come hear how the piano received this title and how he has ruled for the past two hundred years. You will learn about the history and construction of a piano then hear the vast emotions that a piano can portray. It’s up to you to judge if the piano truly is King.

Masterclasses
A series of masterclasses will be offered, giving piano students and audience members the unique opportunity to witness fine performances by young musicians followed immediately by the constructive criticism, advice, and instruction of a master musician. All masterclasses will take place in the choir room at Augustana College, from 2:30-5:00pm. They are free and open to the public.
